If you've been following along for a while, you probably know that we subscribe to Blue Apron for meal delivery. We love that it's healthy food, delivered straight to our door, and that it gets us trying new fruits and vegetables. The recipes are almost always delicious (better than a restaurant delicious) and it's fairly affordable compared to some of the other services.

What is Whole 30?

Whole30 is a program designed to promote healthy eating and reset your body so it's not craving sweets and other foods that aren't healthy for you. The program focuses on cutting foods that may be causing you to feel less than stellar for 30 days so your body can heal and recovery from whatever damage they caused.

There's no calorie counting, but people often find that they still lose weight and feel better as a result of the diet.

No No Foods with the Whole 30 Diet
  • Sugar
  • Alcohol
  • Tobacco
  • Grains
  • Legumes (Beans)
  • Dairy
Your diet is made up of vegetables, meat and fish, with small amounts of fruit. The idea is to eat *real* food, not stuff out of boxes and cans.

Does this seem difficult to anyone else? I love the idea, but I would struggle to follow a diet that required so much planning and diet restriction.

Fortunately it's for 30 days... not forever.

How is Blue Apron Involved?

For 8 weeks, Blue Apron teamed up with Whole30 to provide meals that meet the qualification for the diet. This makes following a restricted diet a whole lot easier.

And the added benefit is that Blue Apron gives out these really great recipe cards that you can keep so you can replicate the meal on a day that you don't have a delivery. Or you can replicate it in 5 months when you want to do the diet again. Or you could work some of these Whole30 meals into your regular diet.

Don't worry- Blue Apron will still be offering their normal meals... but they'll have two meals each week that follow the Whole30 diet. They're marked so you can find them easily.

After those 8 weeks, Blue Apron's menu will apparently return to normal, but I think the menu is generally pretty healthy in terms of keeping grains and sugars to a minimum. Or you can cancel your membership when you've finished the diet.

How to Get 3 Meals Free with Blue Apron

Okay so getting started is easy. Click the link below and make sure to follow the instructions! You need to click the "redeem offer" button that pops up in the blue bar at the top. You get 3 free meals on the first order if you're getting the two person meals. I think you'll get 2 free meals if you do the family option, but I'm not sure (let me know in the comments if you have luck with that).
