The holidays are really busy for most families, but when you’re also working and caring for kids, things can get a bit out of control. Going to the mall to shop during the holiday season is my worse nightmare. And as a work at home mom, it’s realllllly hard to keep things secret when there’s usually at least one child with me at all times. As such, I do a lot of holiday shopping online. Most of it, in fact. It arrives at my door in a box and I can shove the box in the closet until I’m kid-free and able to wrap it.

If you haven’t gotten into online shopping, you are missing out.  You get the convenience of having items delivered straight to your doorstep, the ability to find the best prices and support businesses you believe in, and you can read reviews so you don’t get something that isn’t quite what you were expecting.

With PayPal you can support small businesses with online purchases made from the comfort of your own home. You’re not stuck with ordering only from big name retailers. Throughout the year, PayPal makes it easy for me to order from small mom and pop fabric stores, sewing pattern sellers online, and more. Many of the owners of these small businesses connect with me and other people buying their patterns in small group on Facebook so we get to see the families that are supported by our purchases. It’s a great thing.

I ordered a roast from Snake River Farms. I love being able to support farmers who treat their animals right and focus on sustainability. Not only does it feel good to make better choices about the food we eat, but the meat tastes amazing.

Coulotte Steak with Red Wine Sauce Recipe

This recipe was amazing and quality meat makes all the difference in taste.

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

Place your coulotte in a roasting pan. Drizzle your coulotte with olive oil, and season with salt, pepper, and Salt Lick Dry Rub. This stuff is pretty amazing.

Salt Lick Dry Rub seasoning on culotte steak.

Once the oven is preheated, roast 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, reduce the heat to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Continue to roast for 40-60 minutes or until the internal temperature is 145 degrees.

While the meat roasts, make your red wine sauce. In a medium pan, heat 4 Tbsp of butter and your onions on medium heat until fragrant (1-2 minutes). Add beef broth, wine, sugar, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.

Once boiling, reduce heat to low, add 2 Tbsp of flour, cover, and simmer for approximately 30 minutes or until sauce thickens.

Let meat rest 3 minutes, then slice against the grain. Serve with the sauce.

This was so amazing and delicious. I added more pepper than was necessary but I think it made the flavor even better.
