We often see roundups with food recipes, but honestly it's hard to tell what will end up being a massive fail or an amazing addition to our cookbook. I'm not always a big fan of making my own recipes (I have a few that I've been successful at), but I love trying other people's recipes.

Here's some recipes I've tried that I loved. They used to be part of my "Taste Test Tuesday" series, but I decided to put them all into one post to make it easier for you to scroll through and find recipes you'll love.

Mongolian Chicken by The Kitchen Wife

I gave this recipe a try because I wanted to mix up our chicken options for dinner and this intrigued me. I wasn't prepared to like this as much as I did... it's always hard for me to TRULY change up my diet (aka buy ingredients I've never used). But this was fabulous. I think I've made it three times so far and I'm planning to make it again this week.

I made this exactly like the recipe, except I used regular soy sauce.

My only issue is that I don't like splattering everywhere so I tend to err towards cooking things inside the crock pot or oven. I may try this recipe in one of those ways next time.

Penne with Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese Sauce

For a pasta dish that uses fish, this penne with smoked salmon cream cheese sauce is your recipe! Kirkland Smoked Salmon was a great option to use for the salmon in this recipe. For a pasta dish that uses fish, this penne with smoked salmon cream cheese sauce is your recipe! Kirkland Smoked Salmon was a great option to use for the salmon in this recipe.

This recipe was so good. So many calories, but so good. I have to say that I was really skeptical about trying this because I'm not into "fishy" tastes. I have started to LOVE the smoked salmon from Costco though so I needed another recipe to use it in... I'm trying to add some more fish into my diet.

I didn't need to add a ton of salmon, but the taste of the salmon really blended into the whole dish. Ahhhh--mazing.

Tip: Eat it all in one sitting- or make less if you can't. This did not microwave well... sad me for not enjoying my leftovers like I wanted to.

London Broil II

This came out really well... although I found that we needed to cook it much longer on the grill than the recipe stated. In the future, I may cut the meat, then marinate, then grill. I also saw that some of the comments suggested adding lemon juice to tenderize the meat a bit which I will try next time. It wasn't super tender which was my only issue with it.

This has been the best london broil recipe that I've found so we will definitely be making this again.

Homemade Panera Broccoli Cheese Soup from SugarApon

Broccoli Cheese Soup RecipeI've been looking for a fabulous broccoli cheese soup recipe because I LOVE it whenever we go out to eat. I decided to try this recipe: Homemade Panera Broccoli Cheese Soup from SugarApron

It was fabulous. I liked that it didn't use any canned foods and that everything was fresh.

I doubled the recipe so I had lots of leftovers. I added about a cup of sliced mushrooms and some bacon bits... because... bacon. I didn't have bay leaf so I skipped that. And I used a combo of milk and heavy cream because I didn't have half and half.

Gouda cheese- I didn't have any. I used extra cheddar, a bit of swiss, and a combo shredded cheese that I had in my freezer. Yeah I just threw stuff in there... I have so much shredded cheese in my freezer.

I also used quite a bit more broccoli than was called for and then when I realized I didn't have enough broth for all of the broccoli, I added more chicken broth. Then I ended up adding more cheese- a lot more cheese- at the end because it was pretty thin soup. It still tasted delicious so it was fine. The broccoli does shrink down quite a bit once cooked so you can expect much less broccoli in the soup than original appears to be the case.

Kahlua Pig Recipe from The JoyFul Foodie

Taste Test Tuesday: Kalua Pig by The Joyful Foodie
Recipe being cooked... sorry, forgot to photograph after it was all done.

This recipe was REALLY good. It made a lot of food because it was such a large cut of meat that I used (I used a big shoulder) so I was glad we had friends over that night to share. Our friends really enjoyed it. The pork ended up being very nicely flavored with the bacon which was a surprise because it's not always the case.

I did prefer this fresh vs. leftovers, although the leftovers were good.

We served this with white rice. A salad would go well with this.

Notes: I added 2 cups of water and 2 bouillon cubes to recipe and used kosher salt because I didn't have the type the website recommended. You could probably do 1 cup water/1 bouillon cube instead, or just skip it altogether like the recipe suggests, but I feel weird not having some liquid to slow cook with (is that weird?).

{Taste Test Tuesday} Meatball Sub Casserole

Meatball Sub Casserole from Crafty, Creative Kathy

This meatball casserole was super tasty! I was searching desperately for a recipe to make last minute that I had ingredients for... I have so much food in my pantry, but yet always seem to come up short for recipes unless I plan them out. Whoops.

Of course, this recipe was no different. I also didn't have all of the ingredients for this. I had most of them, but I didn't have the French bread. I substituted regular toast and ended up needing 6 pieces for our pan. It worked just fine, although I wonder if it would've been even more super tasty if I'd had the French bread. I think I probably could have used less cream cheese too as it seemed like a lot when I was making it, but then again it didn't taste like too much when we were eating it.

Simple Savory Pork Roast from All Recipes

This recipe is O.M.G. It's tender, perfectly flavored, moist, and filling. The rosemary on the bottom had softened and cooked into the pork, but I found the dry rosemary on the top difficult to eat. I think the solution to this problem would be to flip the pork halfway through cooking.

{Taste Test Tuesday} Chicken Pot Pie IXChicken Pot Pie IX by Robbie Rice

This recipe came together well. I skipped the peas as I didn't have any on hand, and cooked it at 375 degree Fahrenheit for 45 minutes.

I also used store bought crust.

I noticed someone reviewed it and recommended extra liquid mixture... I have to agree that a bit more would've been nice, but you won't need to double it.

It's very good and I love having a chicken pot pie recipe that I enjoy in my recipe book!

    Garlic Mushroom Quinoa

{Taste Test Tuesday} Garlic Mushroom QuinoaI wanted to try out some quinoa recipes after my brother whipped us up some random recipe off the top of his head when we were on vacation... I would've tried that particular recipe except he just told me the ingredients and not the quantities. Apparently I didn't get his knack for throwing recipes together in my genetics- I need measurements!

I'm not a HUGE fan of quinoa, but I like the health benefits. Lots of protein, as well fiber. Here are some benefits of quinoa.

This is a good recipe! I didn't experiment and change anything up in this. It is a bit bland so if you want spicy, then add spicy!

{Taste Test Tuesday} Classic Macaroni SaladCJAY: Classic Macaroni Salad

I love macaroni salad, but I needed a recipe to go by as I'm not keen on experimenting. During the week day, my sons and I will sometimes walk by the lake and have a "picnic." I usually bring snacks, but I wanted to make this to bring with us so I could have something more nutritious than a bunch of snacks. This worked well!

The only thing that I did different was that I used Miracle Whip instead of mayonnaise, and I added cucumbers and black olives.

Krispie Treat Fudge by Shugary Sweets

For Father's Day, I made my husband this Krispie Treat fudge. I followed the recipe for the most part, but I only had normal size marshmallows and chocolate chips so I ended up just breaking the marshmallows up as much as I could. I definitely think it'd be better distributed if you used mini marshmallows, as well as mini chocolate chips.

{Taste Test Tuesday} Krispie Treat Fudge

This recipe is super sweet. I enjoyed these a lot and so did my entire family, but you can't sit and eat a whole pan for a reason. It makes a lot of them so we kept the pan in the refrigerator for the week it took us to finish them all.

This is a great recipe to split up and share with friends so you don't (cough) gain weight the week you have it. Not that I know anything at all about that...

    The Ultimate Strawberry Shortcake Recipe

The Ultimate Strawberry Shortcake: Using white chocolate pudding!I bought some angel food cake and two containers of strawberries the other day, got home, and realized I had absolutely no idea how to best make strawberry shortcake. My mom used to combine the two, add some whipped cream, and be done with it. But I figured there might be an even better recipe so I did a little searching. Most of the recipes required ingredients that I didn't have.

I ended up finding the recipe below and started it, only to realize I didn't have the full 8oz of whipped cream needed.

I decided to substitute a box of white chocolate pudding. I was a bit nervous to try it, but gosh... substituting white chocolate pudding... it couldn't POSSIBLY go wrong! All amazing ingredients. About the same texture.

It went delightfully, delightfully right. It was moist, everything stuck together nicely, and it tasted DELICIOUS. I can't compare to how it'd taste with whipped cream, but I would just go straight to the Jell-O next time. It took a bit of prep, but it was worth it. I think I might try to cut down on the amount of sugar I mixed with the strawberries next time.

    The Easiest Strawberry Shortcake Recipe

I followed this recipe pretty much exactly and it turned out to be some awesome strawberry shortcake. I didn't have enough strawberries for the recipe so I added raspberries though. The raspberries were AWESOME... wish I'd had more and could've tried a completely raspberry shortcake.

I loved this praline pumpkin dessert that I madePraline Pumpkin Dessert

I don't obsessively LOVE pumpkin. It's okay. I don't like being overwhelmed by the pumpkin taste. I do, however, love this pumpkin recipe (Praline Pumpkin Dessert) my neighbor baked and brought over to share.

She didn't use pecans and substituted brown sugar for the white sugar. I loved it so much that I made my own batch. Super easy and super yummy, it's just enough "pumpkin" but not too much.

{Taste Test Tuesday} French Toast Roll UpsFrench Toast Roll Ups

My husband loves French Toast so I decided to try this recipe for his Father's Day breakfast. I went light on the Nutella and added strawberries for this. They were delicious. Personally I could've used more Nutella, but he felt they were filling and yummy as is because they also had the sugar and cinnamon on them. I added some whipped cream on the plate for extra yum factor.

    Mudslide and Brownie Trifle

Awesome and super tasty. Don't add the chocolate until AFTER you take the pan off the burner. Burnt chocolate smells. I had to throw a whole batch away.

    Brownie Trifle

Oh yeah- I used non fat milk, it tasted fine. Might as well shave a few calories off somewhere.
