Upcycling to a Glass Spray Bottle

Sharing is caring!

I love finding ways to upcycle items that otherwise would end up in the trash or recycling. Upcycling is finding a way to reuse an item. Glass bottles and jars are AWESOME. I really like to make choices when shopping for glass over plastic because they’re so much easier to reuse. Recently I even painted some lids to go with my glass jars and they make awesome storage (keep an eye out for that post soon!).

I was trying to make some cloth diaper friendly diaper rash spray so I needed a spray bottle. I didn’t have a small one to upcycle so I decided to use a small glass bottle (from buffalo chicken sauce) and add a plastic sprayer from a big plastic Windex bottle that I had.

Here’s some quick easy instructions on how to make your own. Of course, you could just reuse the plastic bottle itself. This is all VERY easy. Just keep an eye out for treasure in your trash and recycling!

Instructions

I was trying to make some cloth diaper friendly diaper rash spray so I needed a spray bottle. I didn’t have a small one to upcycle so I decided to use a small glass bottle (from buffalo chicken sauce) and add a plastic sprayer from a big plastic Windex bottle that I had.  cleaned the sprayer out THOROUGHLY before using, making sure to spray lots of clean water through it. We’ve actually been using this empty Windex container for plain water so my 3 year old can “clean” for a while so it’s safe to say that stuff was well cleaned out.

My bottle was shorter than the sprayer so I used some scissors to snip off the plastic pipe… I just snipped off little by little until it was the right length. Make are there’s enough room at the bottom for a small amount of space between bottom and pipe.

Once it was the right length, it screwed on nicely! Insta-spray bottle! So easy and I love glass bottles. The sprayer may not last forever, but it can be easily replaced.
