I'm a bit of a neat freak with food and messes, but I have an 8 month old boy. Those two things don't go together... I'm in sooooo much trouble. No issue with germs (See: A Thousand Ways Germs Keep You Healthy), just with goo and stickiness. While I'll probably need to adjust eventually, for now I'm trying to keep him clean-ish. I've only been in first class on an airplane once and only because of an accidental overbooking that resulted in a SWEET upgrade, and I can't recall them doing this, but I love how in the movies they hand you a wet warm towel to wash your face. It's so awesome. Since we've had our unpaper towels, I've been wetting one in hot water to wipe Baby G's face with after each meal. It's been helpful, it doesn't bother him too much, and he'll hold onto it for a bit afterwards to suck on it and play with it. After he's done, I rinse it, use it to wipe down his highchair, then I toss it in the kitchen wetbag for the next wash. Way easier and faster, and uses less waste (none if you don't count water and electricity to wash). The only problem that I've been having is that I only made two sets of unpaper towels and I have no desire to make more. I don't technically need the huge unpaper towels either for just his little face.

I was going to solve this by making more mini unpaper towels to use when I realized I had tons of cloth wipes that weren't being used. I think I overestimated how much babies poop when I made my cloth wipes... I might have 50 cloth wipes. Totally not using them all. I decided to "upcycle" the extras to use for this purpose.

If you want to make your own, I briefly explained it on one of my first blogs but it's just two 8x8" squares of flannel sewn right sides together, flipped, turned and topstitched. You could also serge them. I don't have a serger though (sad). You could use flannel or use upcycled towels for one side... you could also choose other absorbent fabrics, but those would be more expensive options and flannel works very well. My friend over at zMombie has more information on serging cloth wipes, making solution (for the butt, not the face), and how to fold them correctly if you want them in a wipes box.

Again, I can't even tell you how nice these are to use instead of unpaper towels and way less laundry. Now I can save all of the unpaper towels for bigger messes. I may need to make some more "adult" versions of these face wipes in the future with cute fabric for us to use for napkins.

Here they are in action:

Wetting with warm water.
Ticking off poor Baby G by washing his face when he's overtired.
And a regular paper napkin holder works perfectly to hold them (I only had one napkin in it when I took this picture because Baby G was down for his nap and I refuse to go into his room because I fear waking the beast!).
