I love coasters. Back when I first started blogging, I made myself a set of photo coasters from old compact disks that I STILL love and those are going strong. But we moved from a 2 bedroom condo into a four bedroom house so having extra coasters around is nice. I thought it would be fun to make some as gifts too! My friend gave me some old tiles she didn’t want anymore and I decided to make good use of them.

Here’s how to make your own.

Supplies for DIY Tile Coasters

  • Fabric or Scrapbook Paper (or you can use photos)
  • Tiles
  • Felt
  • Mod podge
  • Paint brush
  • Glue gun and glue

How to Make DIY Tile Coasters

Here’s the video tutorial, but you can scroll down for a quick and easy photo tutorial if you prefer!

Take your tiles and lay them out with some squares of felt. Using your glue gun, attach the felt to the bottoms.

Hot glue to attach felt to back of tiles.

Place your tile over the scrapbook paper to draw a square that’s the size of your tile.

Use your tile to trace the shape onto scrapbook paper or fabric.

Use mod podge to adhere the scrapbook paper (or fabric) to the top of your tile. Let dry, then put another layer (or two) of mod podge on top.

Use mod podge to adhere scrapbook paper to the DIY tile coaster.

Repeat for all of your tiles. I made sets of four tile coasters and then wrapped them with a ribbon.

Love these! I bought tons of fabric way back and now I can have fun!!! Do you have to put anything over Mog Podge to create a sealant?

Thanks!
