If you drank too much wine at that painting party and ended up with a wonky picture, this is the perfect project for you. Convert your painting into a beautiful DIY photo canvas.I LOVE those paint parties where you drink wine and make poorly informed decisions about where to paint what... I just don't always love the end results. I've had two canvases from paint parties gone bad hidden behind some furniture in the office and I was torn- should I toss them? Or could I repurpose them? I took one and created this fabulous DIY photo canvas- and I LOVE it. Glad I didn't toss it.
But check this beast out... haha... yikes.I had a LOT of wine that night.

- Mod podge
- Spray paint
I did sand my canvas down a bit- carefully- before I spray painted it. It didn't do much so I'm not sure if it's strictly necessary, but if you've got large clumps of paint in certain areas then you probably want to do it.
Once sanded, I painted the canvas. I used black acrylic paint. For my second canvas (not pictured because I'm doing something else with it), I used spray paint which was much faster and easier so I suggest going that route.
Ignore the weird swirls... my initial attempt here was to do something with glue that I saw on Pinterest (fail). I probably should've sanded it again.
Next I added a thin layer of mod podge. Then I placed my photo on the it and press down to clear out any bubbles.
Once dry, I added another layer of mod podge over this.
Here's the comparison between before and after... sooooo much better!
