DIY Spa Wrap from Terry Cloth

How to make a spa wrap as a gift or for yourself. This spa wrap was made easily from a remnant of terrycloth that I found at the store. 

I made spa wraps from towels as gifts for Christmas last year, but wanted to make one for myself.

When I found the PERFECT size remnant at the fabric store, I decided to save my towels and make one from this. It’s very affordable this way, although I’d gotten a great deal on the towels too. They’re easy to make and useful items to have.

• Terrycloth Fabric 27″ x 48.6″
• Coordinating fabric (I used cotton)
• Elastic

Tutorial

This is a simple project, but you’ll need to consider your resources. If you have a serger, you can serge around the cut of fabric. Easy. If you don’t, you’ll need to make your fabric cut slightly larger and turn over the edges to finish them… terrycloth seems to shed a lot so you want to finish those edges nicely or you’ll find it fraying a lot.

I should mention that I was using a cut of remnants and it fit JUST right… but barely… and that’s with the extra edge added on. You will want to make sure your rectangle is big enough to cover you.

I took a coordinating fabric and folding it in half. Then I folded over both sides of the edges. Ironed them down, pinned and sewed along the short edge of one side. On the other side (which will be underneath), I just left it serged.

   
While I was at it, I also created a pocket for my wrap and sewed it on.

Once that was done, I folded over the top of the wrap and created a casing for my elastic. Sew the casing, then feed your elastic through. Sew down both ends of the elastic so that it’s tight enough to hold your towel on.

I added a snap at top so I could snap it on. You could do velcro, but I don’t love washing stuff with velcro in my towel laundry… which is certainly where this will end up…

Very easy! I’m excited to have one of these for my own now.
