Upycling to Paint with a Toddler

Upcycling a styrofoam egg carton, an empty plastic jar, and wrapping paper to paint with kids.

How to paint with toddlers

I wrote a post a while back about using upcycled wrapping paper (saved from Christmas) to paint. I pulled out the paints the other day and decided to try a couple more items upcycled in order to make painting a bit easier.
  1. I filled an old peanut butter plastic container with water to rinse his brush and cut a hole in the lid so the water couldn't come out so easily.
  2. I used a Styrofoam egg carton to pour paints into.
All awesome ideas that worked great under supervision. I turned my back for a few and he was pouring the water out, but fortunately the hole in the top of the peanut butter jar was small enough to make it slower than it would've been otherwise. And I also may have left a container of paint in reach when I went to refill the red and he "helped" by putting more in. Oops.

As predicted, the paint was wayyyyy better than the watercolors on the upcycled wrapping paper.

These paints are similar to the ones we have and work awesome. They're easy to clean off which is vital.
