Last pregnancy towards the end I started investigating Red Raspberry Leaf Tea (RRLT) and Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) as two beneficial ways to induce labor. RRLT is more to tone your uterus and some people also use it for menstruation as well. EPO is more focused at inducing labor. I figured this pregnancy I'd try the RRLT again, but for a longer period of time seeing I didn't use it much last pregnancy. I didn't really like the taste of it much so I'm going to try to flavor it a bit. Some people claim this made their labors easier and faster. My midwife was "eh" about whether or not it actually worked, but didn't feel like it would hurt. It's not supposed to induce labor, but you are supposed to stop using it if you have contractions start after drinking it (unless you're full term, then have at it!).

I did order it online from Frontier because I bought it from MOMS Organic Market last time and it required scooping it all out into little clear plastic bags. As this looks as much like weed as you can get without it being weed, I'd rather not be the one transporting it around. Ha. It creeps me out a little (actually tea outside of the tea bag in general creeps me out).

Here's some links about RRLT:
Here's how I made it:

I boiled 104 oz of water (8 oz x 13, the amount that fit in my pitcher).

In the meantime I measured out my tea. The package recommends using 1-2 teaspoons of loose leaf tea per 8 oz so that's 13-26 teaspoons of Red Raspberry Leaf Tea. I started with 13 tsp because I'm still just in my 2nd trimester and I want to see how it effects me. On my second try (see alternate instructions below for Keurig) I used 5 tablespoons which is a little more than I did before.

I poured the boiling water over the herbs, covered and steeped for 5-10 minutes. Strained, then let it cool. After it cooled I transferred it to the pitcher and added lemonade mix. I added 6 scoops of the lemonade mix. I did end up accidentally pouring some of the tea out so I probably had less of the tea than planned.

I tried some last night and it tasted pretty good. It still had that tea-ish taste, but it mostly tasted like lemonade. Yum. I may try slightly less lemonade mix next time.

Alternative: I used my Keurig machine to prep all the hot water in a big bowl, use a couple of coffee filters to make a big tea bag for the tea, put that "tea bag" inside a mesh strainer (hope I got the name of that right!), then let sit for 5-10 min covered to steep.  I emptied the tea bag out into the compost after, used the strainer to get any extra floaties out (way easier this way than before!), let the water cool a bit more, then poured it into the pitcher. I added 5.5 scoops of lemonade mix this time.
