DIY Baby Finger Foods: How to make yogurt bites and teething biscuits for babies.
How to make your own baby finger foods, including yogurt bites and teething biscuits.

I decided to make Baby G some finger foods that we'd otherwise buy at the grocery store because puffs and teething biscuits get really expensive. This child can eat.

These are relatively easy and it will save you a bunch of money if you make your own.

Homemade Yogurt Bites

I found this tutorial to make my own baby yogurt bites. First, I bought some yogurt.
All I did to make these was cut the tip off of a plastic sandwich bag, put one yogurt cup into the bag, and squirt a little bit on top of the parchment paper, then freeze it. Very simple. One 4oz container makes a LOT of these so don't get too enthusiastic. You want to only make so many at once, unless you have a huge freezer... in which case, carry on. I'm probably going to make a few batches, but slowly because I have a super small freezer.

Homemade Teething Biscuits

Baby G loves eating (affiliate link) teething biscuits... and they are soooo messy and expensive. What's worse is that they're expensive AND at some point he accidentally drops the biscuit and the dogs are way faster than I am. I am not cool with paying this much for dog food. You should see me scramble to try to catch it first... haha. I don't even know if the dogs let it hit the ground though... it's like they stand under his highchair with their mouths open, ready to catch. Jerks. I'm working off like 6 hrs of sleep per night, how can I compete with that?!

So I figured I'd try to make some biscuits instead. My grocery store doesn't even sell teething biscuits so that saves me a trip too. If this doesn't work, I may just order them off amazon because it looks a lot cheaper than running out to the store across town, but I want to try this first.

Of course, I didn't have all of the ingredients for any of these recipes on wholesomebabyfoods.com (one of my favorite sites to find baby food recipes) and I didn't want to run back out to the store. I did have some baby oatmeal so I decided to try the Eggless Baby Cereal Cookies (with the flour, cereal, oil, and ice water) listed on there, substituting the rice cereal with oatmeal. Following the recipe, I got about 28 cookies and I cut them out with a measuring cup that I had (odd shaped one). I don't have any smaller cookie cutters and this worked out. Make sure to put flour out before you roll your dough out on the counter so it won't stick, and put a little flour on your rolling pin too. I got bored on some of my final ones so they're not cut out special.

My ingredients. Ignore the cereal and wine in the
background... those were not added, haha.

Puffs, etc.
Yeah no. Not seeing any recipes for these. Sorry. You still have to buy these. I might see if Baby G is cool with cereal though now... I've heard some people use those as the next step. I love the organic puffs, but they haven't been on sale in a while and Baby G eats these fast. The dogs get a lot of these too... it makes me cringe. Willow is already eating all of my turkey pepperoni (which is my favorite thing because it's lower calorie for pizzas and tastes just as good) because we've been giving her the seizure meds inside a piece of pepperoni each night. This needs to stop, but Daddy B insists.

I did find this article on babycenter about The Ten Best Foods for Babies. It lists a bunch of different foods to make sure to try. Baby G's favorite has been mandarin oranges which were super easy to just cut up and they really do sort of melt in your mouth. You can just buy the cans with the WATER (not packed in syrup). I split up the can into multiple empty baby food jars to store them separately in the refrigerator until he can eat them. He went through them pretty fast, but one jar works for each meal and I think I got about 5-6 jars for one can of the mandarin oranges. Baby G also has eaten broccoli that was steamed and seemed to do well with that. I'm looking forward to seeing if he likes garbanzo beans and lentils.
